Feel the excitement growing

AHHH! Sooo to start things off. Got the engine off the stand. So glad I decided to take things apart to look it over and do some upgrading. Turned into a bottom end rebuild. So much for my top end upgrades. Oh well. Next season.

Totally realised I needed a way of tighting the bolt / nut combo for the hockey puck setup. There isn't a way to do it thru the subframe. Normal mounts have a stud and nut which are tightened prior to the brackets being bolted to the frame. I took my setup to the neighbour. With his SHITTY 70amp arc welder he managed to glob on a PILE of CRAP. Oh well, it's not visible and it will hold.

Bolted to the frame. Now I can drop engine on like stock mounts.

Shot of the clutch box. Wasn't my first choice in clutch but, I will try it.

Just a Stage II. It's pretty overpriced. Seeing as it says EXEDY on it....

POS didn't even come as a "KIT". Had to order the pressure plate, clutch disc and release bearing all seperate. THEN DIDN'T COME WITH ALIGNMENT TOOL. THE TOOOOOOLS.

Installed the Thunderbird Turbocoupe flywheel, then eyeballed the clutch disc and put it all together.

Seems to be lined up.

Yep. It was lined up. Tranny slid right in. For those wondering. I've upgraded to a Hydraulic T5 from a 87 Ford Thunderbird Turbocoupe. The shifter on that would have been between my seats soooo... it so happens the Borg Warner T5 was used in MANY vehicles. I got a S10 tail stock and shifter plate. Bolts right up. Moves the shifter to the front of the stock. Litterally 1" lower then where my stock shifter goes. WIN. Except one problem. The speedo issue. Hope to have it sorted out soon.

Going up!!

Going in!!!

THEN refer to last post for final product of tonight. LOOOOVE the hockey pucks. Should stiffen things right up :) Wish I did it last year. Would still have a good windshield :(

Baby got back...

... back into it's natural habitat. More later when hands are clean.

I knew hockey was good for SOMETHING

The pucks!!

Obviously this idea is older then all hell, tried and tested. So it's nothing new but, it's new for me :)

Seeing as stock hydraulic motor mounts have WAAY too much give in them for my setup *keeps snapping my downpipe even with a huge flex pipe*, I went for this option. There WERE solid rubber mounts for Rangers before but, Napa has stopped selling them :( As for aftermarket.... what aftermarket? It's a RANGER.

Siliconing them together to drill thru. Most people use rubber cement or something like that. I didn't have any.

Didn't take pics of drilling on the press but, you get the idea. Hole thru centers. SLIGHTLY smaller then the bolt so it's SNUG not just FITTED.

THEN the text fit. I got too long of bolts but, no biggie. Yes, it's on the wrong side. Will be proper when installed.

Hoping to get into more frequent posting. I've been taking pictures and doing LOTS of things just, lazy.

I thought the weekends were for resting?

Alas, another day of tearing into the fc. BIG thanks to the buddies helping me out on this one (Derek, Rob), or even stopping by for some social support (JM, Mike). I would never have gotten this far alone.

Found this little surprise. I must've been getting amazing fuel mileage without realizing it. LAWL.

RC 1000cc flow-matched secondary injectors. Should help with the extra boost.

N/A motor is outtathurrrr.

I replaced it with a Derek. Totally unsure if that's an increase or decrease in HP.

Annnnnd, this one has a turbo.

Joe swung by to drop off some knowledge, and these delerun(?) solid motor mounts. Shit don't move now.

Rob scored me a Walboro 255 for like...$40? Probably worth it for my motor to not blow up. Will tackle that install on a colder, less nice day.

I hate taps and dies...so I let Rob have at er'. Damnit I hate NPT threads...oil pressure sender will not go in it's home. It's bags are packed, it's got its ticket... I think it's just too good for its home, but it won't answer me.

Some people endorse the beers + work mentality. I'm not against it.

Shits wack. But damn that's a big intercooler. Hoping I can get it completely bolted up soon, and ditch the bungie cords. Or maybe I'll rock them...

ok...that's a joke. But seriously, if I even joked about that on the local forums, pretty sure 50% of people would idolize me for my "gnarliness" while the other 50% would flame me for being gay or something. I don't know. I'm not a forum member.

Sooo, now I need wiring-guru Carl (Brendan) to get his ass into the garage and wire up the Haltech. I really hope I can have it running for the DriftOps day on the 10th (hint hint Brendan).

Moving along then...

Spent some time in the garage tonight. Got a couple more things done.

New clutch all snugged up.

Finalized the silly emissions delete stuff...mostly... Now, to determine all the new correct routings of vacuum lines.

Blitz wheels have been on the car for a week-ish now. I love the way they look. I'm satisfied with the trade I made for them.

Do you think THIS is why my secondary injectors were having issues? Like seriously...

Uhhh...

Wtf...?

Hmm, front end accident damage anyone?

OH well...I'm sure its going to see more bodily harm in it's lifetime.

Pumpin' in ma Ess-Thir-Teeeeeeen

Once a car guy, always a car guy. Doesn't matter how much you try to ignore it, or how many stock civics or GMCs you buy, you WILL be unhappy. Mike bought this heap cause it's something for him to drift in.

It's got mint quarters, tein suspension, yellow headlights, gtr seat, loud exhaust,...
It's all gnarly and sick and shit, doing its sick thing all over the place, bein' all rude.

His car is like the man without a face:

Without a face Mel Gibson:

Other side of Mel Gibson's face:

For those of you who don't understand the reference, go watch more awful movies from the 90s. Right around the time when S13s were ACTUALLY mint, and people were asking for the 'Rachel', or the dawson's creek cut and Vanilla Ice wasn't famous for being a handy man. I would say take me back to those times but I didn't have a drivers license so fuck that!

Hopefully the other felons finish their cars post-haste cause i'm still the only one that can drift. Street drift party soon!

Big City vs West Palm Beach

so me and this f'n guy went to west palm beach, florida for formula d round 3.

hide yo kids, hide yo wife...and hide yo husbands too.

it was so worth it. i can't even describe it. so much car steez going on all over the place. even the parking lot was loaded with dopeness.

not to mention being that close to drifting action...so sick.
standing 20 feet away from my favorite pro drivers as they entered the first corner sideways (and sometimes backwards) at 85 mph is pretty unreal.
