German Steel.

... and with Spring, comes new surprises for summer and the joy of being able to run your summer wheels! How nice is that?

So I've been working on a little project for my Jetta, its been something I've been wanting to do for a couple of years now, and it seems that things just sort of work out for the best when it has come to building this car. All good in the hood.

What I started out with was a set of OEM VW New Beetle steelies, and they only come in an arrangement of 16x6. How dull is that? Very. This is how the looked before the magic started.

I painted them purple to use as winter steelies. Long story short, they didn't work as planned. I have an evil genius of a friend that has some special magic up his sleeve and at my specific requests, made them wider. They now measure 16x8 for the fronts, and 16x9 for the rears. I call that dope.
You should too.

These are the rears, btw.

I'm no expert on the subject of welding and all that goodness, although I should learn. The type of welding that was used was Spray Arc, as far as I know it's a widely used method within the automotive and industrial sectors. I won't pretend to know everything about it, but I'll let you ogle the awesome welds that were done and make your own judgment.

Just looking at them makes me want to curl up inside and take a nap. Doesn't it just look madd comfortable?! lol

I'll have some more specs once they are in my possession and before they get refinished. :)

More to come, stay tuned.
